I respect your time and your information. This policy explains what I collect, why I collect it, who receives it when we plan or book travel, and how you can ask questions or make a request.

This website is operated by J.R. Longstaff, doing business as Your Travel Guy, an independent travel advisor affiliated with Travelmation. I plan leisure travel, cruises, group trips, and events.

Information I collect

I collect information you give me and information created when you use this site or related planning tools.

You provide

  • Name, email, phone number, and message content from the contact form, Traveler Interest Form, group or event pages, newsletter signup, and social or advertising lead forms (including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and similar)

  • Trip details: destinations, dates, flexibility, number of travelers, travel style, celebration notes, accessibility or dietary needs you choose to share, and a comfortable investment range

  • Traveler details needed to book: legal names, dates of birth, gender as required by a supplier, loyalty numbers, passport information when a booking requires it, emergency contacts, and similar reservation data

  • Payment information submitted through a secure authorization or client-payment tool — not typed into a public page on this website

  • Photos, reviews, or trip notes you send after travel

  • Collected automatically

  • Device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring site, and approximate location

  • Cookies and similar technologies used by this site’s host and any analytics, advertising, or email tools connected to the site

  • Do not send Social Security numbers, full card numbers, or passport images to a public form or unsecured email if a secure client tool is available. I will point you to that tool when a booking requires it.

How I use information

  • Respond to inquiries and plan, quote, book, and support your travel or event

  • Create itineraries, send confirmations, documents, and trip-preparation notes

  • Process deposits and balances through secure payment tools and supplier systems

  • Communicate by email, phone, or text about your inquiry or booking, including hold deadlines and documents

  • Send the Wanderlust Guide or similar updates if you sign up — you may unsubscribe at any time

  • Improve the website, understand which pages are useful, and measure advertising (including lead forms)

  • Meet legal, tax, supplier, and record-keeping requirements

  • Protect against fraud, abuse, or booking errors

I do not use your trip file to surprise you with unrelated sales pitches. List mail is separate from a working trip file.

When I share information

I do not sell your personal information.

I share what is needed to do the work you asked me to do:

  • Travel suppliers — cruise lines, airlines, hotels, tour operators, theme parks, insurance providers, transfer companies, and similar vendors receive the data required to reserve and operate your booking

  • Travelmation and industry platforms — as an affiliated advisor I use host-agency and client tools (for example booking, CRM, itinerary, and payment platforms such as TravelJoy or successor tools) to store files, send documents, and process authorizations

  • Website and communications providers — Squarespace hosts this site and related forms; email, text, advertising, and analytics providers process data on my behalf

  • Professional services — accounting, legal, or insurance support when reasonably required

  • Legal requirements — if a law, court order, or supplier investigation requires it, or to protect travelers, suppliers, or this practice

Once a reservation is in a supplier’s system, that supplier’s privacy policy and contract terms also apply. I do not control how a cruise line, hotel, or airline stores data after the booking is placed.

Texts, calls, and email

If you give me a phone number or email, I may use it to follow up on a form, a booking, or a question you sent. Transactional messages about a trip you asked me to plan are not marketing.

Marketing email (the Wanderlust Guide and similar) is sent only if you sign up or otherwise consent. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also email jr@jryourtravelguy.com and ask to be removed from the list.

Standard message and data rates may apply to texts. Reply STOP to opt out of promotional texts. You may still receive a text that is necessary to complete a booking you requested.

Cookies and this website

This site is hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace and any connected tools may set cookies or similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, understand traffic, and support forms or ads.

You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking some cookies may affect forms or page functions. Squarespace’s own notices describe their platform processing in more detail.

How long I keep information

Inquiry and list data is kept as long as it is useful to serve you or as required for records. Booking files are kept for the period needed to support the trip, handle supplier issues, and meet tax or legal requirements, then deleted or archived with access limited.

If you ask me to delete personal information, I will do so unless I must keep a portion to complete a booking, resolve a dispute, or satisfy a legal obligation.

Your choices and rights

You may request access to the personal information I hold about you, a correction, or deletion. You may also ask me to stop marketing email.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state or international law, including the right to know what I collect, to request a copy, to request deletion, and to opt out of certain sharing. I do not sell personal information as that term is commonly used in U.S. state privacy laws, and I do not use your data for cross-context behavioral advertising as a core part of this practice.

To make a request, email jr@jryourtravelguy.com with the subject line “Privacy request.” I may need to verify it is you before I fulfill it.

If a supplier holds your reservation data, some requests must go to that supplier as well.

Children

This site is intended for adults planning travel. I do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Names and ages of children traveling with an adult may appear in a booking file because a supplier requires them. That information comes from the adult who submitted the form.

International travel and data location

Suppliers and platforms I use may store or process information in the United States and other countries. If you are outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed here and in the countries where suppliers operate your trip.

Security

I use reputable hosted platforms and secure payment or authorization tools rather than collecting card numbers on a public web form. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Please use unique passwords on any client portal I send you and tell me promptly if you believe a message about your trip is not from me.

Links to other sites

This site may link to cruise lines, hotels, payment pages, schedulers, or social networks. Their privacy practices are their own. Read those policies before you submit information on a third-party page.

Changes

I may update this policy when tools, laws, or this practice change. The effective date at the top will change when I do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
